With our children continually subjected to individual isolation via the X-box, video games and limited human contact, it would appear that establishing and maintaining ongoing relationships is a victim of sorts given this current situation.
Unless a youngster has developed a solid self-esteem he/she may be destined for an empty life, void of meaning and human contact. In a given day, how often do children interact with another caring person? During the students five to six hours at school we have the teacher and maybe a friend or two. At home, prior to school and after school we have “latch key” students, children with little or no supervision. Although not a panacea to this challenge, the book described below certainly provides the basis for a pleasant, enjoyable beginning toward developing identifiable relationships.

Author, John P. Trotta, Ph.D., is a retired educator of more than forty years and a grandfather of six, four boys and two girls. His professional work has taken him to several cross-cultural environments over a ten year period of time: Philippines as a Peace Corps Volunteer, Micronesia, and rural Hawaii. The author’s sensitivity to the relevance of extended family is obvious in the heartfelt timbre of this captivating book.
